Hose Protection - Extend The Life Of Your Hose

We are often asked how to extend the life of a hose once installed. Hoses are a consumable product and will always have to be replaced at some point, but changing your hose to regularly can be both costly and time-consuming.

In this free guide, we are going to take a quick look at the different types of hose protection available and how you can use them to your advantage.

Protection Bump Rings

Bump Rings - help to protect the end connection from being damaged if dropped but also protect the application environment from the end connection protecting expensive flooring, for example, in a pharmaceutical environment.

Bend Restrictors

Bend Restrictors provide stress relief for hoses. The straight sleeve style prevents kinks in the hose at the connection point, saving wear caused by the stress from bending.

These are often used in applications where there is a lot of flexibility required, maybe a handheld tool, for example, where the operator is consistently moving and adjusting the hose position. Without a bend restrictor, the hose in this example will take the majority of the ‘stress’ immediately after the connection point causing weakness and eventually leading to a failure. With a bend restrictor, it will limit the amount of stress on the hose extending the lifetime and saving you money on replacements.

Thermo Sleeve

Constructed from high bulk fibreglass sleeve and heavily coated with iron oxide red silicone rubber. Thermo-Sleeve sheds molten metal splash and can withstand intense heat and flames.

It is sleeved over the required hose and provides a layer of protection between the high-temperature material and the hose

Textile Burst Sleeve

A protective sleeve for Industrial and Hydraulic hose offering excellent abrasion resistance. The product is light and flexible and can also be used as a burst protection sleeve to prevent injury from a failed hydraulic hose.

The textile burst sleeve is constructed from a compact weave of de-aerated nylon fibre.

Rigid PVC Spiral Protection

Designed to protect all types of hoses against shocks, abrasion and crushing. The rigid spiral guard is made from PVC, making it one of the most cost-effective forms of protection.
They are predominantly used on hoses that are required to be dragged across rough terrain or moved around consistently.
